I SEE EVERYTHING! More Tony Nomination Wishes

Last week I talked about some musicals that I think should have been nominated for Tonys but weren’t. This week, I’d like to discuss plays.

I was very surprised by the snub of Daniel Radcliffe for Leading Actor in a Play for his brave and terrific performance in Equus. And I think Bill Irwin deserved a nomination for Leading Actor in a Play, as well, for Waiting for Godot.

In Leading Actress in a Play, I thought that Kristin Scott Thomas (The Seagull) had a good chance at winning. I also thought that Mercedes Ruehl, Lily Rabe (both of The American Plan), Carla Gugino (Desire Under the Elms), or Tovah Feldshuh (Irena’s Vow) had a good shot at a nomination, at least.

For Best Featured Actor, I wish some of these men had been nominated: Ben Miles (The Norman Conquests), Patrick Wilson (All My Sons), Steven Pasquale (reasons to be pretty), Kieran Campion (The American Plan) and John Goodman (Waiting for Godot).

Finally, for Best Featured Actress: Andrea Martin (Exit the King), Elisabeth Moss (Speed-the-Plow), Amelia Bullmore (The Norman Conquests), and Carey Mulligan (The Seagull)

Of course it was a really full season with a lot of incredible work, and there are only so many nominees allowed for each category. But, I think everyone I mentioned above did really great work and I just wanted to bring some attention to those overlooked.

Is there anyone I forgot this year that you feel should have been nominated? Or even any other years?

OK, I am reading this ridiculously late, but I am still fuming over the snub of Daniel Radcliffe. There were so many times I got chills from his performance. I feel as though everyone sees him as just Harry Potter, and not as the great actor that I had no idea he was!

Aaron Tveit, absolutely. And Andre DeShields for his performance in "Impressionism", which made an otherwise dull evening into an event.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Daniel Radcliffe being snubbed. Could someone please explain to me why such a powerful performance was swept under the rug?

Aaron Tveit was snubbed of a TONY nomibation...which I think was so wrong..it reminds me of the time when Alice Ripley(his N2N costar) was the only one of the four person leading cast in Sunset Boulevard to not be nominated for a TONY(the same now with Aaron Tveit)...I think he was amzing but it was his role of being sorta "bad" that he didnt get a nomination

My top two upsets, as I mentioned last week were Tovah Feldshuh and Andrea Martin. Although it was quite obvious Angela Landsbury was going to win for best featured actress, it would have been nice to see Andrea Martin be noticed by the TONY comitee. Also, I believe that if Tovah Feldshuh was nominated, she would have had a great shot at winning (in my opinion).

She didn't need to make this list because she was nominated for the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Play (and rightfully so, I think, she was terrific!)

I thought that Marin Ireland from "Reason to be Pretty" might have also made that list. What do you think?
