Yay...

Okay so I am about to go back to school in about... 2 weeks and I am so excited. I get my own room, for one, and my suitmate (i.e. the person I am just sharing a shower and toilet with) is one of my best friends, i.e. my ginger G(a)linda. I'm also really excited because of the shows we're doing! Okay, so Spelling Bee is totally pre-cast as we're doing it with Phoenix Theatre (our leads are PT's understudies) but we're doing Sweeney Todd! Ah! My voice teacher told me she wants to be Mrs. Lovett and honestly, I can see it. "I may ruin my voice and use techniques that my professors and voice teachers will hate me for, but I want that role! And ASU doesn't know how to teach a more 'Broadway' style... like belting." True fact.

Speaking of ASU's lack of music/technique knowledge, a friend of mine who was going into opera full on changed her major BECAUSE of the shoddy teaching and the shoddy techniques being used. She's now going into law. (But she's been singing and playing violin since she was 10... Supporting the theory that the majority of kids who start young don't stick with it and find pasions elsewhere...) Maybe I can improve more at AMDA....

Oh! Speaking of belting... I can finally (yes, FINALLY!) belt with a piano backing me. I've never been able to really do that... okay, I've never been able to do that. And my highest note is officially an E at the top of the staff (a note under the F in Defying Gravity... "I'm flying high, deFYing gravity...!") and it was so easy to hit. Oh and and and. Best part.

Heather realized that I am more comfortable singing in my middle/lower register. I can stil do high stuff just fine, but I perfer my middle register. YAY!

I pretty much want to be another "pocket Elphie" one day. Totally could.

But yeah... Oh on the AMDA note: One of my bestest friends ever told me to stay here because it's cheaper. That was her valid reason, even after i told her about the amazing alumni and the teachers and the classes.... Ha, she just doesn't want me to go because she'll miss me (we've been friends going on 13 years). But hey, I'll be 20 (AHHHH!) and I need to do what makes me happy.

Well, I must get some sleep... More online class fun awaits me in the AM!

p.s. I pretty much decided I'm going to grow up and be Caissie Levy haha.
