- At Green Valley High School, it hardly matters who will lead student council. But trying telling that to the candidates running and the people who love them (or hate them). To them, the rest of their lives seem to hinge on who can get the most votes.
This high-energy musical comedy focuses on the electoral process from the perspective of 3 high school seniors. The race forces the candidates to consider the meaning of each vote and the importance of distinctive character in politics. While some of the students have no problem gaining approval from their peers, others act as though they'll stop at nothing to win the coveted position of student council president. In the process of trying to please everybody, the election unravels, alliances change, and the candidates learn what it takes to make themselves happy—and the value of individual dreams.

Legally Blonde star Bailey Hanks will head the cast of the New York International Fringe Festival production of the Ryann Ferguson and Steven Jamail musical VOTE!
Hanks, who portrayed Elle Woods in the Broadway production of Legally Blonde after winning the reality television competition "Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods," will be part of a cast that also features Deidre Goodwin (A Chorus Line, Nine) and Morgan Karr (Spring Awakening, Everyday Rapture).
Additional cast members include Krystal Joy Brown (Rent), Landon Beard (Altar Boyz), Tracy Weiler, Nina Sturtz ("The Battery’s Down"), Daniel Robinson (Hairspray), Kevin Michael Murphy, Kate Roth, Andrew Christi, Robert W. Fowler, Micah Rapisand, Christie Schwartzman, Alex Rolecek and David Bahgat.
VOTE! has book and lyrics by Ryann Ferguson with music and additional lyrics by Steven Jamail. The musical will play the Minetta Lane Theatre as part of the New York International Fringe Festival from Aug. 14-26.
VOTE!, according to press notes, focuses "on the electoral process from the perspective of three high school seniors. Ryan J. Davis directs the musical comedy that features choreography by Rachelle Rak ("Every Little Step," Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), lighting design by Brian Tovar, costume design by Nicole Smith, sound design by Eric McMiller and scenic design by Hilary Noxon.
