About Me:
PETER SAXE
As an undergraduate at SUNY Purchase, Peter studied composition with Yehudi Wyner and James McElwaine. Peter’s musical, “...The Latecomer” was performed in concert at
the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center. While at Purchase, Peter also participated in the BMI Musical Theater Workshop.

Graduate studies at Manhattan School of Music followed. A performance of Peter’s musical “A New Beginning” served as his Masters’ recital.

Peter most recently premiered his short musical, “MTA: The Musical” (available on youtube – (soon to be a short film). He is also the writer of “The 8-bar Audition Song Series,” which will be released in book/CD format.

Peter has written music for Emerging Artists Theatre’s (EAT) hit off-Broadway production of “Penny Penniworth,” (set for a second run Sept, 2010). Peter also serves as EAT’s staff Musical Director.

Musical Direction and/or Arranger credits include: “Dig and Be Dug: The Gospel of Lord Buckley,” “DMV: The Musical,” “Guido Girl,” “Johnny Infamous,” That’s Showbiz!” for MITF, “BlackFootnotes” for AMAS, a 40th Anniversary Production of “Hair” for The Real Theatre Company in NYC, “Evita” and “1776” for the Yorktown Theater Company, numerous cabaret shows, and numerous productions of the award-winning family musical, “Welcome To Tourettaville.” Peter provided Musical Direction and Orchestrations for productions of “Very Good Eddie,” “Fifty Million Frenchmen,” and “Lady Be Good” (benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.)

Peter’s song-cycle, “History Remembers,” performed by John Whitley at Rose's Turn/55 Grove St., was recorded, (featuring the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus on the title song) and is available on CD. “Ernie and Bert (Living Together)” from “History
Remembers” was nominated for a GLAMA (Gay, Lesbian American Music Award). “History Remembers” was expanded into a one-man book musical play.

For the opera vaudeville duo, ‘The Bad Boys Of Opera,’ Peter served as arranger, editor, copyist, occasional pianist, and is co-author of “Abbott & Costello Meet Gilbert & Sullivan” (“Who’s On First” as a mini G&S operetta) “Sing Your Song,” and “A Christmas Toast.” Peter has also provided arrangements for “Operation Adelmo,” which made its debut at the 2008 NY Fringe Festival, and is currently performing in the NYC area.

Peter maintains a private coaching studio (including unique song selection, custom arrangements/transpositions, and sight-reading improvement). Peter specializes in coaching singing child actors (references available) Peter also provides music score preparation services at competitive rates using Sibelius Notation software.

Peter has worked in Music Publishing for 5 years, and MTV Networks for 7 years.
