Whisper House Theatrical Debut Tickets On Sale Now

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Makes Her Broadway Debut As Roxie Hart In Chicago

- No other label has Sony Masterworks’ long record of blockbuster success with Broadway cast recordings and film soundtracks. We have consistently created product of the highest artistic quality and we have worked closely with Broadway producers and film companies to promote cast and soundtrack albums and their movies/shows to great success.
2008 releases for Masterworks Broadway include the cast album for the Tony Award-winning and critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater production of South Pacific. The cast album debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 pop chart and continues to impress in the market place. On September 30th, we will release Stephen Sondheim – The Story So Far, a lavish 4-CD retrospective box set that features 33 unreleased tracks from the legendary composer’s distinguished career. 2007 releases include reissues of Stephen Sondheim’s masterpieces Sweeney Todd, Into The Woods, Merrily We Roll and Sunday in the Park with George and a new Broadway cast recording of Grease starring Laura Osnes and Max Crumm, the winners of the NBC reality series YOU’RE THE ONE THAT I WANT.
For over a decade, Sony Classical has been a boldly creative force in the film soundtrack world, the label that released the best-selling soundtrack of all time – Titanic. Sony Classical has had the most successful score soundtracks in recent years including all three recent Star Wars films, Memoirs of A Geisha, and the platinum movie musical The Phantom of the Opera. In fact, Sony BMG has had three of the most successful movie musical soundtracks of the last decade, Phantom, Chicago and Dreamgirls. Between 1997 and 2000, Sony Classical recorded all four successive Oscar winners for Best Original Score and turned them into top-selling soundtrack recordings – Titanic (1997), Shakespeare in Love (1998), The Red Violin (1999) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). On August 12th, Sony Classical has the privilege of releasing the soundtrack to the new animated Star Wars movie The Clone Wars.
Recent Broadway successes include back-to-back best-selling, Grammy Award-winning recordings of the original Broadway casts of The Producers and Hairspray, as well as top-selling original cast recordings of such recent Broadway hits as the Tony Award-winning Avenue Q, Thoroughly Modern Millie, the revival of A Chorus Line, The Wedding Singer, Urinetown and Ragtime, and the long-running blockbuster revivals of Chicago and Cabaret. Masterworks Broadway also released a deluxe Chicago Tenth Anniversary Box Set featuring the original revival cast album, a bonus CD containing new guest star recordings, demos and tracks from the original 1975 and international cast albums, a 68-page booklet of photos and essays, as well as a bonus DVD featuring interviews and performance footage.
Sony Music, with its legacy of recordings from the RCA Victor, Columbia Masterworks and Sony Classical labels, is home to the greatest collection of Broadway cast albums in history, including West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Gypsy, A Chorus Line, Company, Sweeney Todd, The Producers and Sunday in the Park with George.
