I Am A...
Fan, Actor, Singer, Musician, Writer, Director
About Me:
I am married to a wonderful woman and have two fantastic daughters. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and have pastored two churches, though I am not pastoring at the moment.

In 2005, I decided I wanted to try acting again, not having done it since my sophomore year in high school 32 years earlier. I landed the part of Virgil
Blessing in a community theatre production of "Bus Stop," and the bug bit hard. Since getting involved in acting, I have done (on average) 2 - 3 community theatre productions per year. I would love to advance to the next level of theatre and see how I would do.

As far as other acting goes, I have acted in two student films and one independent short that is still in production as of June 2010. Also, I am writing this having just spent the past two days as an extra on the set of a movie Ron Howard is filming that will star Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, and Jennifer Connolly. I'm still beaming with excitement over that experience.

I have written two screenplays and two stage plays. The screenplays I enter periodically into contests, and the stage plays have been used as the high school plays for a home school co-op we belong to, and I have directed those productions.

I thank God for life and for the enjoyments of life, and one of my chief enjoyments is the theatre.

On to the next show!

I haven't been on here since November when I wrote about opening night of Leading Ladies. That turned out to be a really good run. We had large, enthusiastic audiences for every performance. Now I'm in rehearsals for The Dining Room. It's a good show with a good cast. I wish we were doing more than two performances, but oh well...

Leading Ladies

We opened "Leading Ladies" with the Townsquare Players last night to the best audience I've ever been in front of. It was large and loud and full of laughter. What a great start to what should be a great run! I think this is the best cast (as a whole) that I've ever been a part of. I can't wait for tonight!

Farewell, Dear Sylvia

Today we ended our two-weekend run of "Sylvia" with the Lakeland Players in Elkhorn, WI. What a blast it was. I played Greg, a man who finds a dog (Sylvia) in a park and brings her home, to the chagrin of his wife, Kate. His love for Sylvia begins to incringe upon his life to the point that his wife contemplates leaving him and he runs the risk of losing his job.

When you get to play a great role in a great story with a great cast, it all makes for a great experience. And my experience with "Sy… Continue

Two Are Better Than One

I am in the next-to-last week of rehearsals for a community theatre production of "Sylvia." I play Greg, a man who finds a dog (Sylvia) in the park. It's the largest role I've ever had with over six hundred lines (my previous high was about 185). It's a daunting task to learn that many lines, especially when you've never done it before and your mind isn't as young as it once was. Up until now, I've been sitting alone, going over the script, trying to learn by myself. Usually, my wife helps me by… Continue

Hi Mark! I am glad you enjoyed my testimony about Godspell! It is amazing how God uses things we love to bring us closer to him. My in-laws used to live in McHenry, IL-- what church do you pastor? Also, if you read my bio-- I am thinking about taking the leap back into community theater too! You may have inspired me more! :D I am still in the thinking phase-- good for you-- you did it! So great to meet you here on Broadwayspace!!! thanks for the request!

Hi Mark,
Welcome to BroadwaySpace! I would like to invite you to my stage to give a listen to "Empty Seats" a digital songbook collection of tunes from my first set of shows. It's in the nimbit player/storefront on the right side of the page (you will have to scroll down a bit). Let me know if you hear something you like. I know you will love BroadwaySpace.
