I Am A...
Fan, Actor, Singer, Dancer, Student
About Me:
I've to always loved to sing, dance around the house, and be a huge drama queen. In kindergarten, instead of playing on the play structures with the other kids, I would create skits with the drama teacher and my friends, insisting on being "the biggest role you've got." Every summer in elementary school, I would join a drama camp and put on full scale productions of shows written by the associate director of Memphis and Spring Awakening, Beatrice Terry. When I was in seventh grade, I joined a theatre company, which I've done seven shows with, and will be doing another two this coming school year. I currently take voice lessons, and improve every day. In the summer of 2009 and 2010, I was an intern for two musicals, Beauty and the Beast and Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr, where I worked backstage. During the Fall of 2010, I joined a theatre group that is student directed, produced, and performed, where they put on musical numbers. It is ages 7-18, and I was performer. My dreams include majoring in theatre at NYU, being on Broadway someday, and meeting her idols, Bernadette Peters and Carol Burnet.

Finally!

Even though I highly doubt that anyone other than myself is reading my blog posts, I haven't updated this in months and SO much theatre-related stuff has happened, I just had to write (type?) it all down. So, starting last September, I was in a month long program called By the Kids for the Kids (that we performed at the beginning of October) that is musical numbers directed by high school students and performed by ages 7-18, I was performer. It's a part of the theatre company I'm in during the… Continue

Gonna have a busy year!

Last time I updated this, it was right before my returners audition. I sang Maybe this Time from Cabaret (Acapella). When I audition, I get really shaky, so I don't think I did very well, but they seemed to really like it which made me feel better. My next theatrical experience was my choir performance. According to my choir teacher, the sopranos all follow me (no pressure) and unfortunately, the day of the performance my throat was killing me and I could barely talk. Needless to say, all the… Continue

Loving Musical theatre more every day <3

My life has been full of theatre latley! First, I should say that I started my voice lessons! So far, I've had three voice lessons. They are every Tuesday from 5:00 to 5:30 pm at my voice teachers house. I know, half an hour for voce lessons seems pretty short, but we do a lot in half an hour, and I practice a lot at home. Each lesson, I learn a song from this big old Broadway song classical book that I got for Christmas from my uncle. My first lesson she mostly talked to me. We talked about…

Footloose!

Yay! I actually updated this in under a month :D Anyway, I just wanted to say (type?) that we finished Footloose! I'll describe everythng in detail, starting with tech rehearsal. So, tech started at 3 pm and went all the way to 10 pm, with a half hour dinner break. When we got to the theatre, we had to do our hair, make-up, costumes, and mic-checks. Since Footloose is set in the 80's, everyone had to have really big, poofy hair. Luckily, my hair's really curly, so that wasn't hard for me! All i… Continue

So much has happened!

Ugh! I haven't updated this in forever! I need to get in the habit of doing this every once in awhile (even if no one is reading it ;D). Anyway, I have a bunch of stuff that's happened theatre-wise in the past three (?) months. I guess I'll start from where I left off. Well, I was so fotunate, because I got to work backstage for The Stinky Cheese Man (the junior theatre show I talked about before). Middle-schoolers are so ridiculous and impossible to control! So many of them are not ready…
