Hi John!
I have been tuning into 101 for a while. What a GREAT resource thank you. I love the York and am hoping to stop by in mid March. I was invited to the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop so I will be in town. I am planning to move for good in September.

I love "The Red Mill," which I saw the now-gone Light Opera of Manhattan do some years ago. Its a pity that operetta has fallen out of fashion -- some great music and some very entertaining shows are being forgotten, and I think the world would use a lot of both. Mind you, I'm delighted that new shows like "Thrill Me" are proving resilient. Steve Dolginoff is a friend, and its been exciting to see his show literally travel the world -- its now a hit in Seoul, of all places!

It's expensive to say the least. My first musical was actually an operetta by Victor Herbert "The Red Mill" which was the spring musical at my high school. The music director waa friends with musicians who played for the KC Philharmonic. They play for us for free. This gave our productions a professional polish other schools didn't have. This is when I fell in love with musical theatre.
