About Me:
Jaime Lozano was born in Monterrey, Mexico and is a musician, arranger, orchestrator, producer, musical director, composer, and musical theatre director. He earned a BFA in Music and Composition from the School of Music of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. He has staged musicals such as "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1999, 2001 y 2005), "Evita" (2000), "The Fantasticks" (2000), "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (2003) as a scene director, vocal and musical director, and producer. In August 2003, he staged the Mexican Premiere of "Jekyll & Hyde" The Musical. In March 2004 he developed, produced, and directed a gala concert called "Broadway Elite." He was the musical director and arranger for "Pedro Páramo," which was part of the Nuevo Leon Theatre Festival. He adapted, produced, and directed the Spanish World Premiere of two musicals: "Songs for a New World" in August 2005 and "The Last Five Years" in October 2006. He is the composer, lyricist, and librettist of the musical "Tlatelolco," which premiered in October 2001 in Monterrey, Mexico, with revivals on 2002 and 2004 and an Original Cast Recording available. His one-act musical "The Yehuatl" (book and lyrics by Sara Cooper) was read on May 2008 at NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre, directed by Benjamin Klein and musical directed by Zachary Dietz. “The Yehuatl” had another reading on January 2009 in the Frederick Loewe Room at the Dramatist Guild, and will premiere in Capetown, South Africa. His musical “Children of Salt” (book and lyrics by Lauren Epsenhart) was read on May 2009 at NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre, directed by Giovanna Sardelli and musical directed by Gillian Berkowitz. Along with his career as a composer and musical theatre director, he is also a vocal coach. He is also the artistic director and music producer for his own enterprise, La Casita Recording Studio, where he develops important recording projects that support the national musical theatre in Mexico as well as recording commercial material for national artists. Jaime is a graduate of the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, with a Full TSOA Scholarship. He's a proud member of BMI and The Dramatists Guild of America, Inc.
