About Me:

I'm 45 years old, and once again at a point where I'm shifting careers. I'm rather ADD. LOL I have my BA in Music Performance, and my MS in Computer Science.

I have been teaching and writing Computer Science curriculum for Forsyth Technical Community College here in Winston-Salem, NC for the past 6 years.

I've always taught music on a part-time basis, but I have recently opened a music studio in my home, and am currently teaching both piano and voice on a full-time basis. My voice students have a primary interest in Broadway music, which has always been my preference, as well.

I have recently begun vocal training again myself with Louise Toppin, a World Class singer in her own right, who is a Professor of Voice at East Carolina University.

I've been experimenting with some very amateur recording. I'm going to buy a decent mic next month, which I think will make a big difference with the sound.

I'm here to make friends who share my passion for Musical Theater. I love Broadway musicals. I travel to New York about every other year, and always try to see the latest shows. I'm currently very addicted to "Spring Awakening", even though I know I'm way too old to play any of the parts. LOL

I hope to get to know more of you.

Edit--I figured since it has been 2 years since I edited this, I would give some updates. My music studio, Scott Music Studio, is doing very well. Two of my students are performing professionally. One is flying out to California this week to do a shoot for a television show with Cartoon Network. She was also recently asked to audition for the lead role in Broadway's revival of "Annie". I have obtained my Post Masters Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from ECU (East Carolina University). "Spring Awakening" is still my favorite musical, and a few of my students will be performing some numbers from the show at our next Master Class.
