Since the fateful day I was born, I have been singing. My life is completely dependant on my voice, and devoted to music. There is just this feeling you get when you perform that is...indescribable. I AM the very definition of a drama geek, haha. Whenever I go to shows, I think of who I would play. (Paulette in Legally Blonde, Elphaba in Wicked =p ) I write songs and sing in between vocal lessons and auditions. Singing has strengthened my voice, and I have developed into a very gifted actress. I dream of the day I leave this podunk little town I live in and go to Julliard college and someday get on Broadway. I don't care how long it takes, I'll wait. I have alot riding against me, and no one to help me out. I'm considered the "black sheep" because I want to go into theater, but I don't care. It's my dream. I'll do whatever it takes. I'll perservere, and you wait, in 10 years, it'll be me up on that stage.

No prob! :) If you want an example of what I was talking about regarding "speaky", check out my recording, Climbing Uphill on My Stage. It is sung in tune, but it does have a spoken feel to it. That's the type of technique I was referring to. It's not belt...you aren't putting any type of pressure on the vocal chords...it's just a matter of singing the piece as if it's a musical monologue.
Hey...sorry you felt beat up on your Oklahoma thread. :) Now that I have an idea of what you need help with, I hope my advice makes sense. Check out My Stage if you would like to hear some of my recordings and read my bio. I'm a private voice teacher, and have been doing musical theater for a long time. Break a leg on your audition! :) Let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you.
Hi Danielle,
Welcome to BroadwaySpace! I would like to invite you to my stage to give a listen to "Empty Seats" a digital songbook collection of tunes from my first set of shows. It's in the nimbit player/storefront on the right side of the page (you will have to scroll down a bit). Let me know if you hear something you like. I know you will love BroadwaySpace.
