KRISTIN CHENOWETH - This
four-foot-eleven bundle of dynamite originated the role of Glinda
alongside Idina Menzel’s Elphaba in 2003. We most recently saw her
as former glee club member April Rhodes on a hilarious episode of
the hit Fox show “Glee”. A Tony-winner for You’re a Good Man,
Charlie Brown and recent Emmy-winner for her work on TV’s
“Pushing Daisies”, Ms. Chenoweth will always hold high rank on our
list of favorite Glindas. Who’s cuter???
JENNIFER LAURA THOMPSON – This
pretty pink lady made her Broadway debut in 1998’s
Footloose. In 2002, she became a Tony nominee for her role
in Urinetown. In 2004, Jennifer had some very large shoes to
fill (ok – not that large) when she replaced Kristin Chenoweth and
became the second Glinda of Broadway.
MEGAN HILTY – Most recently seen
on Broadway as Doralee Rhodes in the late, great 9 to 5 The
Musical, Megan Hilty was certainly one of the most adorable
Glindas ever! Shortly before graduating from Carnegie Mellon’s
School of Drama, Megan auditioned for the show, and in 2004 was
cast as the standby to Jennifer Laura Thompson. Eventually, she
took the role permanently, and made her Broadway debut as
Wicked’s third Glinda.
KATE REINDERS – She made her
Broadway debut as a swing in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
and landed her first starring role in the revival of Gypsy
as Dainty June opposite Bernadette Peters. After originating the
role of Glinda in Chicago alongside SNL alum Ana Gasteyer, Kate
popped back onto the Broadway stage when she replaced Megan Hilty
in Wicked. She’s a whole lotta cuteness!
KENDRA KASSEBAUM – This St.
Louis native was first seen on Broadway in RENT back in
2002, playing Mark’s Mom and understudying the role of Maureen. She
was later chosen to play Glinda on tour alongside Stephanie J.
Block, and for her performance received a Helen Hayes Award
nomination for Best Actress in a Regional Production. In 2007, she
joined the Broadway Company. Kendra admits to watching the movie
“The Wizard of Oz” as a kid and rewinding Glinda’s scenes until her
tape broke.
ANNALEIGH ASHFORD – Annaleigh
toured with Wicked for 10 months before departing to make
her Broadway debut as Margot in Legally Blonde The Musical.
In 2007, she ditched the gals of Delta Nu and joined the Ozians at
Shiz University to play Glinda to perky perfection. You might have
spotted Ms. Ashford in films like “Sex and the City” and “Rachel
Getting Married”. She’s currently working on the Broadway-bound
musical adaptation of Catch Me If You Can.
ALLI MAUZEY – This funny lady
made her Broadway debut in Hairspray back in 2003. Her big
break came when she played Lenora (the weird chick) in the
short-lived Broadway musical Cry-Baby. Alli went on to make
magic in Wicked when she became Glinda in 2008. We think
Alli was one of the most hilaaaarious Glindas to date!
ERIN MACKEY – Here she is! Erin
Mackey is currently wowing audiences nightly as Broadway’s latest
Glinda. A California native and former student of Carnegie Mellon
University (a seemingly popular hangout for up-and-coming Glindas),
Erin first played the role in Chicago. The 23-year-old recently
joined the New York Company and has made Wicked history as
the youngest actress ever to play the part! Nice work, pink
lady!Share Twitter Facebook Facebook
