IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Thank you to everyone who entered our "Broadway's Next Big Star" Contest! You’re an incredibly talented bunch! Because of the high number of entries, and because so many of you are so dang talented, we’re having a hard time picking just 10 of you to move on to the next round. Let me tell you, there have been some heated Simon Cowell/Paula Abdul-type arguments going on over certain contestants.

Because we want to make sure we have enough time to discuss each submission, we’re going to postpone the announcement of the finalists until tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

AND, because so many of you are so dang talented, we’re going to expand the number of finalists to 15 (including the two wild card spots)! A total of five more people are going to get a shot at being Broadway Space’s Next Big Broadway Star!

We’ll send you an email tomorrow when the Final 15 have been announced! And then the voting begins!

Are you Broadway’s Next Big Star? If so, you could win a free trip for 2 to New York City and an audition in front of a Broadway casting director!

Here’s What You Win:
  • A 2 day/1 night trip to New York City for you and a guest (*see official rules for details)
  • An audition with Broadway Casting Director Craig Burns of Telsey + Company (Wicked, Legally Blonde, 9 to 5)
  • 2 tickets to the Broadway show of your choice
  • Dinner for 2 at Serendipity

Here’s What You Do:
  • Upload a video of yourself performing something Broadway (NOTE: Your video must be uploaded to BroadwaySpace.com. Please tag your video with "Broadway's Next Big Star" in quotes). You can sing a song, perform a tap dance, or do whatever it is you do that will make you a Broadway star!
  • Click here to submit your official entry to the contest and send in your link.

Here’s How it Works:

Phase 1: Choosing the Top 10 Finalists
  • Our panel of celebrity judges featuring Craig Burns (Broadway Casting Director of Telsey + Company), Bailey Hanks (Broadway Actor and winner of MTV’s “Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods”), and Ken Davenport (Producer of 13, Altar Boyz, and the upcoming Godspell) will choose 8 of the best videos to be part of the Top 10 Finalists.
  • The other 2 Finalist positions will be “wild card” spots. These spots will go to the 2 videos with the highest number of views as of 11:59 PM (ET) on March 28, 2010.
Phase 2: Choosing the Winner
  • After our Top 10 Finalists are selected, BroadwaySpace members will vote for their favorite video, so you decide who wins! Voting on the Top 10 Finalists will begin at 10:00 AM (ET) on March 30, 2010. The polls will remain open until 11:59 PM (ET) on April 7, 2010.
  • Whoever has the most votes as of 11:59 PM (ET) on April 7, 2010 will be the Grand Prize Winner. Winner is expected to be announced on April 12, 2010.

MEET OUR CELEBRITY JUDGES:

CRAIG BURNS is a Casting Director and has worked for Telsey + Company since 1998. His Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour casting credits include Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Love Never Dies, Wicked, Legally Blonde, The Color Purple, 9 to 5, Cry-Baby, Jerry Springer: The Opera, Grey Gardens, Tarzan, Sweeney Todd, All Shook Up, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Taboo, Little Shop Of Horrors, Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show, Aida, Saturday Night Fever, and Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party. Telsey + Company's film credits include Sex And The City 1 & 2, Jonah Hex, Main Street, Love And Other Impossible Pursuits, I Love You Phillip Morris, Rachel Getting Married, Dan In Real Life, Then She Found Me, Across The Universe, Ira & Abby, Rent, Pieces Of April, Camp, The Grey Zone, Finding Forrester, and The Bone Collector. A native of Long Island, Craig holds a BFA in Drama from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

BAILEY HANKS is known for winning the MTV Reality Show "Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods" and she went on to star in Legally Blonde on Broadway as Elle Woods! She then starred as Sharpay in Papermill's production of Disney's High School Musical. She was on two episodes of "Guiding Light" as "Amy" and will appear in the Feature film Step Up 3D to hit theaters August 2010! Other credits include: "Muffin" in Vote! The Musical (2009 Fringe Festival), "Emily" in Freckled Face Strawberry (reading), AT&T Commercial, and Heinz Ketchup Commercial.

KEN DAVENPORT’s recent Broadway productions include Oleanna starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, Speed-the-Plow starring Raul Esparza, Will Ferrell’s You’re Welcome America, Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, and 13. Ken is the only independent producer to have had three shows running simultaneously Off-Broadway - Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80s Prom and My First Time. He was recently featured on a national commercial for Apple’s iPhone, named one of Crain's “Forty Under 40” in 2008, and dubbed the “P.T. Barnum of Off-Broadway” by the New York Times. Current projects include Broadway revivals of Godspell and Aaron Sorkin’s A Few Good Men, Ken’s musical adaptation of Somewhere In Time, and a documentary on one of the top unsigned rock bands in the country – Red Wanting Blue.
