I saw the revival tour a few months ago, and there was an understudy Mark, who was so new he wasn't listed in the Playbill. He was really good, and very cute... :-)

I've never seen it on Broadway but I've seen the tour twice. The first time, I was at a self-absorbed age, around 15 or so. I thought it had a few catchy tunes but the stories bored me. I saw it again about 5 years ago. We were so close to the stage. I must have gone through a box of tissues listening to the stories of the people who came from dysfunctional families. Once you've been knocked around by life and realize you had your own dysfunction in your family, you can empathaize with the characters in the play.

A Chorus Line was the first Broadway show-- I ever saw.. it happened on my Senior trip to New York. I guess I had never even heard of it at the time... I had only just started acting and singing in Highschool... wasn't real up on it! Anyway.. the funny thing I remember is hearing the tour guide on the bus discussing that we were going to see "actors auditioning for parts and we would hear their stories.. and me thinking "What! I want to see a Broadway show, I don't want to see some stupid audition" I truly had no clue huh?

Anyway...needless to say, when I got it--- I fell in love with this show.. made me keep keeping on with my acting and singing for a while and my passion for muscial theatre truly began! THAT WAS NO AUDITION-- THAT WAS A CLASSIC-- soon to become the longest running Broadway Musical in just a few years from then-- 1985! oh the young and innocent! :)

David-
I think you are listening to Ronald Dennis (who played the OBC Richie and is on the cast album). His voice goes into a higher octave range during "Gimme the Ball" and it does sound sort of like a woman during that sequence, but it is him. It is written that way.

A Chorus Line was the first musical that really touched me and me get really interested in broadway. I do have a question for anyone familiar with the original producation. In the original there wa sa song with the phrase "gimme the ball gimme the ball gimme the ball...." the lady has a wonderful voice and i was wondering who she was and if she is still doing stuff
