Trying out for Suessical. Any tips?

OK, a theater near me is doing auditions for Suessical Jr. on the 11th. I really want the part of Mayzie or preferably, the Sour Kangaroo. I have the voice for it (or at least, I think I do) but I'm up against college-level performers. Plus, I am NOT the best dancer to hit the stage. Any tips?

well, I did suessical a few years ago, but Idk how to audition for it, Sour Kangaroo is very belty so maybe something from Grease, Hairspray, or other belty songs! I have the same type of voice

Something from kiss of the spiderwoman! joke. ha ha. (please tell me you understood it?) But try something from Mame sounds right. Or something from Ragtime, hey same composers.

I played JoJo in it, a while back. From what I remember,Mayzie's dancing doesn't matter THAT much. I'm very surprised they're letting college students audition for a Jr. play! Here's a website that might help you.

Yeah, I was surprised too. The ages that Pax Amicus is letting audition for this are 13-19. Kinda wierd, if you ask me.

for the dance if your are just confident and learn the steps best you can you will do fine also act confident with the steps even if you arean't and they'll take notice

OK......I'm thinking about doing Big Blonde and Beautiful for my audition song for Sour Kangaroo. Good choice?

Great choice!! I personally love the part and that song! I have the same type voice, so I know exactly what your going thru! I'm auditioning for High School Musical this August, so I'm in the same type situation your in... any suggestions will help!!! Good luck in the auditions!!! you'll do great!!

I directed Suessical last year,what I looked for with the sour kangaroo is that,she's sour her voice doesn't have to be amazing. Our Kangaroo was a riot because she had a nazallly and belty voice. You have to show off that cartoonish characteristics inside of you.I enjoy classic theatre,so think stepsisters from cinderella,etc. Just make sure you overdo it just enough though!It could easily end up an annoying catastrophe!
