The #1 place for people who love Broadway.

I'm casting a show right now, and the special skills some people list can be truly hilarious. The one most people know about is "can burp on cue", but some are very creative.

Today's winner: "Talks quickly, but can still be understood."

What interesting or amusing special skills have you seen?

I would just like to say that if you have a part that could be played by a 13 year old teenage girl I would hope that you could consider me for a part.
I mean I have almost been dancing for 10 years now and I take Jazz, Tap , Clogging, Musical Theater, Ballet, Hip Hop, and Vocal. I really can pick up on any type of anything quickly. I have never done ballroom but I could give the jitterbug a try. I can do a British accent and i'm working on another island/ caribbean accent now. I can also do lyrical but I'm not old enough to do pointe now.
You may ask why and that is because where I take dance we dont have pointe and if we did you would have to be at least 16 and have good strong toes...
My special skill is that I tend to play well with others or blend in with various crowds of people.

I have the fact that I've played goalie on my lacrosse team for the past four years on there... showing my toughness and tenacity

For mine, I usually include some of the backstage work that I have done, including light designer...but the special skill I am most proud of would have to be being able to do just about anything with my toes, that I can my fingers. Weird talent, but it has actually gotten me a few callbacks:)

I got one that has alligator wrestling. And she got the part. (Not because of the alligator wrestling, though.)

I think you should definitely require her to demonstrate that skill. hahaha!

They're lucky if I provide a pianist. Now I have to have an alligator?

Just saw "Tongue expansion" on my friend's resume. I have no idea what that means, and I don't know if I should ask her... or her boyfriend!

I've heard one that's "works well with children" for a show that didn't have children in it...

Your special skills section has nothing to do with the show you're auditioning for. You don't need to change it for every audition, you just put all your special skills in one place for the directors to refer to. You never know what might jump out at them, what they might decide they want, or what they'll need for the next show.

I know, it was actually in Seth Rudetsky's Broadway Nights book, and he made the comment that the show didn't involve children ;)

I'm reading that book right now and I remember that part. :)
