BroadwaySpace

The #1 place for people who love Broadway.

Some shows are worthy of being recorded
ones with large fan followings such as:

RENT

some because they run for a long period of time:

CATS

and some i don't even know

SHREK THE MUSICAL (It was announced it is not out yet)

WHAT MUSICALS SHOULD BE RECORDED FROM THIS SEASON?
WHAT MUSICALS THAT WERE NOT RECORDED THAT HAVE CLOSED SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECORDED?

I wish every show could have been recorded. That's the only way I get to see musicals from Broadway. Either that or illegal videos.

I would have liked to see Ragtime recorded so that I could see it!

I see I'm not the only person guilty of watching a bootleg (Not proud!)

I watch them, but I feel bad about it sometimes. But it does get me more interested in some musicals.

I saw Ragtime closing night, it was one of the greatest musical theatre experiences of my life, after I met almost all 40 cast members or so, had them sign my playbill and the program (which came out for closing night) and got many photos, and did I mention meeting the director, book writer, lyricist, and composer. I actually dropped my program on the ground and Terrence McNally had to bend down with that "Im old" noise to get it for me, I felt so bad...

I have been an advocate of recording every show for some time. I think that it would be great for business–for shows that are still running and for shows that are no longer playing. It would simply be great PR for the great white way.

I'm telling you, it's going to beat Phantom and go on for 20+ years. (Yes, that was a stab at Phantom to close...)

Sadly I dont think N2N will considering it is always lowest on the grossing polls regarind cash intake and seats filled, and I heard the producers will not do the show without Alice Ripley as the lead... Kinda hard for her to do the same role for 20 years... But I would love to have a recording to preserve forever!!!!!!!!

Ragtime should have been recorded to be released. Lincoln Center filmed it. Also Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Normal Conquests, Hair, In The Heights, recent Gypsy, August: Osage County, and many more that I can't think of at the moment.

For sure!

Shows that should have been recorded and weren't:
Grey Gardens (lots of talk, never happened)
August: Osage County
the last revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
Bernarda Alba (it has Phylicia Rashad and it didn't get noticed???)
The Producers (though the film is fairly close, and I understand why they didn't)
the last revival of Assassins

Shows still running that should be recorded:
Next to Normal
God of Carnage
South Pacific
