A few days ago, I was walking through the Theater District and passed St Malachy's Church just as the evening services were concluding. St Malachy's is a Roman Catholic church known as the Actors Chapel, because it has served the Broadway community since 1902. And what were the church bells playing? Taking a totally wild guess here... but im thinking they have Church at different time slots, so Actors can still go to church but still be at their theatres on time...
How often do actors have to be at work on Sunday morning?

And don't all churchs have mass during the day?

There are gads of people that work nights....not just actors.
very great! :-)
That's awesome.

I doubt most of their congregation is made of actors. And to poke fun at the stereotype: shouldn't there be an actor's SYNAGOGUE.
There is. Congregation Ezrath Israel, also in the Theater District, is known as the Actor's Temple. And, if you're Anglican, there is St Clement's in the Theater District, and The Church of the Transfiguration, also known as The Little Church Around the Corner, because of this famous story.

In 1870, Joseph Jefferson was rebuffed in arranging for the funeral of his friend, George Holland. Both men were actors.

He went to a church and was told that they wouldn't give a Christian burial to Mr Holland, because he was an actor. However, someone at the church told Mr Jefferson that he might enquire at the little church around the corner where "they do that sort of thing." That little church is the Church of the Transfiguration.

The Little Church Around the Corner is also the home of the Episcopal Actors' Guild, which helps theater people in need, and has many performance and social events. Their motto is "Charitable help for performers of all faiths, and none".
