OK Tom Hanks is producing SPRING AWAKENING the movie.....
OMG of all the discussions I started this one won't die!!!!!!! A lesson in social media.....
Now we can start the official season of speculation.... OK first off.. Hanks knows movie making and he knows music.... It's all good. McG as director ok he's also a songwriter and record producer Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Offspring... directed WE ARE MARSHALL and one of the CHARLIE'S ANGELS things and TERMINATOR SALVATION... ok i guessss... Sheik & Sater back supposedly with an additional song or two....
OK I am about to go way way out on the edge for this one.... as you know I am huge about promoting Broadway back into the mainstream of american life...... It would be HUGE to have... (I really am going to say this...) Miley as Wendla
Think about it.... coming of age not a 20 something made-to-look-like.... she can sing the tunes.... would be an over the top breakout for her, for the flick and more importantly for the show..... and Mamma Who Bore Me would be #1 for a year........ when was a showtune last #1 on the Billboard Top 100??? (I know David knows.... Dolly ???? Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In???).
The cast needs to be of age and solid around her.... and I see you coming in here with the Jonas-es... we will have none of that......

NO! no no no! Absolutely not! If they cast MILEY as ANYTHING in that movie, suddenly the movie becomes about her. She doesn't know how to do a project that isn't centered around her. THAT and let's think about this: This show/movie is not for 13 year old girls, which is the crowd you would get if you cast Miley. She would make a mockery of the movie, and quite frankly, I don't think it would mean anything to her. Sorry...that's just how I feel, and I know pleanty others that'll back me up on that statement.

Miley is not an ensemble cast actress.
They should bring in a bunch of really no-name but extremely talented people to do it. Or maybe have Lea Michele play her original role, if Glee becomes as popular as it should be.
that way they can get anybody who likes Glee who AREN'T already anticipating the movie interested in seeing it, having an original cast member of the broadway show, and introducing some unknowns into the cast too. :]

I would love to see Lea Michele play her original role =] Plus you're right, it might bring in a lot of the Glee crowd, it seems to be becoming pretty popular. I definitely don't like the idea of Miley playing Wendla either, although Tyler does make a good point. However, she seems too "young" for the show, if you know what I mean. In my opinion, anyways.

Yeah, its about coming-of-age, but I don't think Miley's come of age yet. She doesn't know how to not be immature, both onscreen and offscreen. She doesn't have what it takes to handle such a serious role where, *gasp* she wouldn't play a character named MILEY. She's NOT an actress, she's a publicity stunt, and shame on them if they DO use her.

Please Lord, not Miley. Lea Michele knows the role obviously, and thanks to glee, she's a big enough name to make the songs big Billboards 100 hits. Actually, a LOT of former SAers are getting bigger and bigger (Jon Groff will be guest starring on Glee, obvs Jenna Ushkawitz)
