Has anyone seen anything worth noting Off-Broadway (or Off-Off) recently?

The Fantasticks is...well, fantastic! haha. And on Off-Off Broadway, though I haven't yet, I'd love to see I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!
I've never seen a NYC production of I Love You, You're Perfect... but I really enjoyed regional productions I've seen. It's a well-written show and a great showcase for talented actors.
I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change isn't off-off. At least I don't think it is. It's been running off-Broadway for years.

I really want to see Toxic Avenger because, skeptical though I was, I've heard nothing but wonderful things about it. Unfortunately, I haven't been getting to see much of anything lately... but the Fringe Festival is coming up!
Oh, maybe you're right. I assumed it was off-off.
Off-off-Broadway shows generally don't get the kind of notice that I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change has gotten. They generally don't run more than two or three weeks at a time, the actors are rarely paid, and the entire thing is done on a shoe-string funded by keg parties at someone's apartment.

My guess is, if you're not in NY and/or you don't have a friend in the show, you've never heard of most off-off-Broadway shows.
Probably not. lol.
When I was in New York about 3 years ago I did see one off-off show, and your right- it was in a little hole in the wall theatre and the chairs were all seats from cars. It was a lot of fun though. Plus, the show was Jacque Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris which has become one of my favorite shows.
Actually, I'm fairly certain that was an off-Broadway contract. That was at the Zipper Theatre, which was a very reputable off-Broadway house. Very unfortunately, due to the rough economic times, the theatre closed down just a few months ago. It really was a sad loss to the community. They had good shows there, and it was just a terrific atmosphere.

I saw an off-off-Broadway show a few nights ago called Happy Hour at the 45th street Theatre. My friend (the very talented Alicia Rachel Becker) was in the show and it was one of the oddest pieces of theatre I've ever seen in my life. I'd equate it more to The Benny Hill Show than anything else!
That sounds interesting! My family and I are going to New York for Christmas this year and I want to see a few off-off shows. Just because I think they sound interesting. When it gets closer I'll have to talk to you and see if you know of any. (:
I keep a blog about all of the underground theatre that i see, and i try to keep it updated with info about upcoming shows I plan on seeing, since most of the off-off shows I see only run for a couple of weekends.

But definitely let me know when you're coming in, and I'll see what my friends and friends of friends are doing. The best time for those kinds of little shows is end of summer when Fringe season comes around. i have a few friends in Fringe shows this summer that I'm really looking forward to!
I had a teacher who was in that show....so I really want to see it too!
i would love to see Happiness but hasn't it closed or is closing? im not sure...
Yea, I'm pretty sure it closed in June. But good thought!
