i wouldn't miss Billy Elliot, it's literally the best thing i've EVER seen
The only thing with Hair tho is that it is moving to London in April :(
I am also going to NYC in June for the 4th time. I really hope to see Next to Normal, I met Alice Ripley last summer as a fluke and I saw other cast members out and about, but I didn't see the show. I hate that! So this summer I will.
If you haven't seen Wicked yet, I would DEFINITELY see that because it is amazing, i have seen it three times and I loved it at the Gershwin in NYC the most. so spectacular!!
I want to see Promises Promises because Kristen Chenoweth and Sean Hayes (Jack from Will and Grace) will be in it.
Have fun!!
Is it moving to London, or are they opening a London production?
They're opening a london production, and the entire OBC is going there. They're holding a non-equity call for the new b'way cast on thursday.
Not all of the revival cast is going to London. All were asked but I know of some who declined.
this isnt an obc production just so you know.
and two of my friends are auditioning for it!
Which cast members declined?

And I second Promises Promises! :)
wow ok so i thought the whole show was moving to london. woops, fail :) lol
so that means that I might still get to see the new cast for the revival when i go to nyc in june. this makes me happy. i am so upset i didn't see it last summer. i had seen three shows and had like no money left, but i waited outside the theatre for 2 hours, entered the lottery, and did not get in. i saw 2 of the cast members dancing in the rain out on the sidewalk, dressed like hippies, laughing and playing. it was such a HAIR moment. i am grateful i saw that. the only seats left after that was very back seats for like 40 bucks and OMG i wish i just did that. but i didn't. i left for dinner, came back later and stood outside the theatre around 11 pm. i was outside when the entire cast ran out the door and back through the stage door right before the finale. it was breathtaking to see that! then i waited another half hour just to see gavin, and I did, and it made me really happy. then i went back to the hotel. that was my hair experience. maybe next year i will actually get to see the show. lol :P
I would see FELA from what I've heard it is amazing! Even though the revival cast of Hair is leaving it is still a great show and you should try and see it.
I'm going in May and right now, Promises, Promises, American Idiot, and A Little Night Music are on my list.
I saw Next to Normal last year w/ the OBC. I would really recommend it. It was a fantastic show.
How old is everyone in your family? As long as you don't have any really young siblings, I would highly recommend Next To Normal. It's a little heavy/intense for little kids, plus the subject matter would be totally over their heads & they'd be bored, but if everyone in your family is teenagers or older, I think you'd all really enjoy it. It's phenomenal.
I would say skip Memphis and head across Shubert Alley to the Booth where Next To Normal is still knocking them dead every night. Memphis is a confused mess, and if you are only in the city for a short time with a limited amount of shows to see, I would recommend you see the really well crafted ones, such as N2N. Heck, maybe if we are lucky you may be able to snag tix for a preview of SPIDER-MAN: Turn off the Dark if they have it up by then at the HIlton. Whether or not the show is 'well-crafted' it will at least be a visual feast with Taymor at the wheel.
