I went to NYC for the first time in July, and I loved it. I saw Shrek the Musical, 9 to 5, and Rock of Ages. Probably the worst choice of shows I could've picked, but hey, at least I saw SOMETHING on Broadway haha.
Well I am most likely going back early next year so I was wondering what shows I should see.
I'd like to see: Finian's Rainbow, Chicago, Bye Bye Birdie, and Burn the Floor.
Has anyone seen these shows? Are the good? Any other recommendations?
Thanks!

I haven't seen Bye Bye Birdie so I technically can't judge it, but from the videos I've seen and the reviews I've read, it sounds atriocious. Just my opinion...

But anyways, the must-see show in my book is Next to Normal. It's AMAZING. Also, Hair and In the Heights (though the new cast doesn't compare the original) Finian's Rainbow sounds awesome, as well.

Have fun, gotta love NYC! :)
I have heard so many people say BBB is bad, but I still want to see it haha.

In the Heights is coming to my town in a few weeks so I am going to see it; can't wait!
okay, well, i saw shrek and 9 to 5, and i LOVED them both!! theyre too of my favorite shows. and i haven't seen rock of ages. i dont rly like the soundtrack, so idk. but whatever.

i haven't seen any of those yet though. only go to burn the floor if you really like dancing. ive heard great things about finnian's rainbow and chicago, but i dont know anything about them really. i would LOVE to see bye bye birdie!!!!!! im going next month and im sooooo excited to see it. i heard that the show in its entirety was great, but every person i know who saw it, said gina gershon who plays rosewas terrible!!!! but whatever. i still wanna see the show. id saw go with birdie.

we love you conrad, oh yes we dooooo, we love you conrad, and we'll stay truuuuee.......
when you're not near us, we're blue, oh conrad we love you!
I am definitley having second thoughts on BBB--I still can't wait for In the Heights!
Jason, I seriously think you should kill Ben Brantley and replace him. Just saying.
i have to disagree with your chicago statement. i saw melora and thought she was fantastic. however, i saw her 2nd performance and it was a full house (i was in standing room, and they only sell them once the house is sold out).
Definitely see Next To Normal. It is a MUST SEE.

I saw Burn The Floor and I really enjoyed it. I'm a ballroom dancer though, so I'm into that kind of stuff. If you like ballroom, you will love it. If you don't, you might like it but you might not. My brother, who I thought would hate it, actually really liked it. (He plays guitar & sax, so he was mesmerized by the onstage musicians. Oh, and the hot girls in skimpy outfits too. He is 15, after all. hahaha)
I am a dancer, so I think I would like Burn the Floor a lot!
If you like dancing, FELA is amazing. The energy is great as well as the story. I caught this show by chance and probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. The Broadway theater is transformed into a club in Nigeria and it's done very well. Check it out if you get the chance.
I recommend you see Hair. I loved it when I saw it and I'm seeing it again in December.
Ragtime looks amazing. A Little Night Music looks like it's going to be awesome as well.

The Chicago revival is an incredible production of an incredible show, and it's the longest running revival on Broadway. That said, you just have to catch a good cast, and sometimes it's hard to know how the cast is going to be. Charlotte D'Amboise goes in and out of the role of Roxie Hart, and she's awesome in the role. I've seen her do it a couple of times. I don't know who's playing Velma right now, but I think Brent Barrett is playing Billy and he's good. The ensemble is usually good. And, of course, the dancing is phenomenal.
