It looks like Annie is headed back to Broadway.  I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it.  I know it will be great for little kids and families to go to, but what I worry about is the schools.  Many schools and small childrens theatres put on this production each year.    If the show is back on Broadway will the rights be held until it leaves again?

Coming back in 2012? well, let's hope the Mayans are right...
I hate the idea that you have to somehow change something to make it relevant to people today. If a show that takes place in the 30s was relevant to people in the 70s, maybe it doesn't need to be tweaked for people in the new millennium.

Yes, rights will probably held within a certain radius of NYC, but is it really such a problem that schools won't be able to do Annie for a little while? There are plenty of other shows out there that are family and student friendly. Missing one shouldn't make too much of a dent.
i agree fully with the hate of changing the script
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I have a deep hate for this show.

Well, not the show itself, but what it does on the voices of the little girls who screech it out every night.
Thank you for pointing that out! Kills the voice.

Though I do like this show every now and then.
Annie...I just have no thoughts, the only reason people are going to want to see this is with stunt casting, it's not like it hasn't been revived, or hasn't gone on tour, or is that missing jewel right now. I don't see any other reason they would want to do it besides the name combined with stunt casting.
Maybe they're trying to be optimistic because of the economy right now! Haha. Just kidding. Why would anyone do that?
I, personally, would like to see Susan Blackwell as Ms. Hannigan.
AHHH! That would be a win.
I didn't hear anything about a broadway transfer, but at a theatre in I think North Carolina, Andrea Mcardle is playing Ms. Hannigan...
That's probably the greatest thing I've ever heard.
I saw Andrea Mcardle on the Today Show describing her experience of playing Ms. Hannigan. Then they showed some clips of her performing and she looked like she put her own twist on a play she knows very well.
