Hey Broadway Peeps. My Name is E.J.,and my Mom's had to go through lueikemia twice.(a type of blood cancer)I'm writing a little variety show for the pediatrics(child cancer patients) to be put on next year. But I need songs from musicals that are energetic, but dont say "Look at me,Im a healthy teenager who can dance and sing and you cant",but at the same time i need songs that arent depressing that remind people that there in a hospital.I have some, but I need more individual songs that can be done with a small cast.Any Ideas?By the way I'm at City of Hope Cancer hospital in California.I have some pictures of the hospital below.

"Happiness" from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
"One Step" from Starting Here, Starting Now
"Brand New Day" from The Wiz
"The Best of Times" from La Cage aux Folles
Think Positive-Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
And, on that note, "Cheer Up, Charlie" is a beautiful song!
Good Suggestion.....I know a senior who could easily pull that off.By the way,I was thinking maybe "9-5" as an opening number,or is it too peppy?
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! What kid wouldn't love that? :)
Ya,but that's a little to peppy.....Good Suggestion, but the last thing I'd like if I had Cancer is someone to tell me "Hey,were all feeling supercalifrag....etc.,lol.How are you feeling?".So that might work,I'll look into it. Thanks though.=)
Kids with cancer like peppy songs. They're still kids. I've been around kids with cancer and most of them love it when they're treated normally and people aren't walking on eggshells around them trying not to upset them. I don't think they'd take offense to that song being sung. =D
Umm..........*thinks* How about A Spoonful of Sugar? It's fun, so the kids will love it, no dancing is really needed, and not depressing or too peppy.
Would The Wizard and I and Defying Gravity from Wicked be too high energy?
Ya, I actually wanted to have that song as the end of act 1.
Okay:) Which one? Defying Gravity?
If it's kids-- then anything High School Musical. You can dance or not.
