Well, everybody, your little Catherine is growin' up.  In about nine days (I'm pathetic enough to have a countdown), I'll be thirteen.  The big one-three (okay, no one calls it that, but you get my drift).

A teenager.

More excitingly, I'll also be celebrating from the twenty-seventh (my birthday) to the twenty-ninth, in New York!

I already have tickets to see Next to Normal and In The Heights, and my parents are considering a matinee of A Little Night Music.  And I totes plan on going to the Met (while my dad ditches my family to go see a Grateful Dead poster exhibition.  Oy Vey.), Sardi's, and Ellen's Stardust Diner, but in your opinion, what are other must-sees?  Thanks, guys!

i went to nyc for my 13th birthday too! i didn't see any shows tho, cause i wasn't a huge fan then and i was 'tierd'. fail. that was 6 years ago, man i feel old!

see if joe's pub is putting on any shows (although there may be an age limit, i don't know i've never been but i am going this summer hopefully)

and as unrelated as it is i recommend going on the tv and movie bus tour cause it was really cool, we went to the house from 'friends' and saw lots of other movie related things...i really liked it was one of the highlights of my trip (besides the shows obv)

have lots of fun!
Yay, thanks!
have you seen Billy Elliot or Wicked? if you haven't you might want to see those!
Hair is supposed to be fantastic but since your just turning 13 i'm not sure how comfortable you are seeing that.

Ellen's is a must (so fun)! All the tourist-y places are fun. i live 20 minutes from the city and i stil love going to M&M Store, Hershey Store, and Toys R US.

hmm The Addams Family is previewing if you can tickets to that. thats about what i can think of off the top of my head!

have fun! and happy birthday!
I've seen Wicked and though I was in a community theater production of Billy Elliot, I have not seen it.

Actually, I have recently been told by my father that he might have grudgingly allowed me to have seen Hair if I had asked him before he got the Next to Normal tickets (aaargh!).

Thank you!
Then you were in an ILLEGAL production as the rights and royalties have not been released yet.
You will LOVE Next to Normal and In The Heights. Those are two of my favorite shows. :)

You might want to go on the NBC studio tour. I thought it was pretty cool. And if you go on a Saturday, you sometimes get to see the host of SNL wandering around getting ready for the show.

Also, I don't know if you ever read the Eloise books when you were younger, but I did and I LOVED them. The last time I went to NYC, I went into the Plaza Hotel to see the picture of Eloise and I found out that there is an entire Eloise Shop with all this adorable Eloise stuff. It's super cute & fun if you like Eloise. I was almost 18 when I went and I loved it... :)

Ellis Island is really cool too. I went there when I was 13. You can look up your family name and find relatives who came through Ellis Island.
Actually, I'm part of one of the only families in America that has almost NOTHING to do with Ellis Island, lol!

And, actually, I'm a HUGE Eloise fan! It was the first book I ever read on my own (I was three.) My childhood doll is named after her, for cryin' out loud!

Also, Gavin Creel was in the movie :)

Oooh, I'll def check out both the Eloise store and the NBC tour! Thanks!
gavin creel is in the eloise movies. i'm 18 and i watch those movies just cause of him, and the new york scenes obviously.
Of course! Lol, love him!
haha the movie was on disney 2 days ago!
And I would love to go to Ellen's Stardust Diner. the closest thing to going there is when I saw it in "the Battery's Down"
:D
That's why I want to go lol!
Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Not a real berry patch, but it's a memorial for John Lennon. The mayor of SF there puts flowers around a plaque on the ground that says "Believe" in a peace sign.

And your dad needs to lighten up regarding Hair... You seem like a VERY mature young lady.

Ugh, I miss the city.
