Full West Side Story cast (headed by Matt Cavenaugh and Argeninean newcomer)

Playbill announced yesterday that the full cast of the revival of West Side Story has been finalized, headed by Matt Cavenaugh (Grey Gardens, A Catered Affair, and all around really nice guy) as Tony, which I couldn't be more thrilled about, and newcomer 21-year-old Josefina Scaglione (Amber Von Tussle in the Argentinean production of Hairspray) as Maria. I'm very excited for this!

I am so excited about seeing this as well. My mom used to play the movie for me when I was young and we used to sing it around the house. I just recently (as in the last 24 hours) rewatched the movie and was reminded how fantastic the show is. The choreography...the story...the emotion...I freakin' love it.

I have never seen a professional stage production of the show so I'm very much looking forward to it!!!
Anita, where'd you find the early reviews of Hair? I'm going to see it Saturday and I've been trying to find info about how the cast is and all that good stuff since previews started.
Hey, Anita (or anybody, really), do you know if they've changed anything since the DC run?
People who saw the show in DC have told me they love this production.
I can't wait to see it on Broadway.
I saw it in D.C...didn't love it, but I thought it was okay. I wrote a review on it somewhere here, but in short, (I hope you die-Edges!) I didn't like how they handled the Spanish. And there were a few other things...weak acting, etc...I'm a bit tired of people ragging on Olivo's dancing though. She not a bad dancer by any means, and I think concentrating on that one slight weakness, takes focus away from a few of the show's other, much bigger problems...like the Spanish.
I'll let you know after next Saturday!!!

I don't think that I have been this excited about seeing a show since I FIRST saw Spring Awakening. While I'm too young to have been around for the first run on Broadway...my mom used to play the music around the house when I was growing up. So I was walking around singing "Hair" when I was about 5. It was her favorite musical when she was 15, and were actually taking her to see it Saturday for her 55th birthday. So very appropriate timing!!!
im seeing this in a couple weeks...cant wait and i hope its good!
Getting back onto WSS after I hijacked...there was a great article in the times about the choreography and little subtle differences between the show, the movie and the OBC. While it's not a review...still interesting...
