Full West Side Story cast (headed by Matt Cavenaugh and Argeninean newcomer)

Playbill announced yesterday that the full cast of the revival of West Side Story has been finalized, headed by Matt Cavenaugh (Grey Gardens, A Catered Affair, and all around really nice guy) as Tony, which I couldn't be more thrilled about, and newcomer 21-year-old Josefina Scaglione (Amber Von Tussle in the Argentinean production of Hairspray) as Maria. I'm very excited for this!

Here's the full cast: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/122831.html

HOLLA KAREN OLIVIO! She is going to be an AWESOME Anita, even if she isn't fluent in spanish, she's going to kick ass. Ugh, such good casting! And yay for Cody, too. I remember him from that Bravo Dance show...
I'm not too keen on the Matt Cavenaugh casting. He's a great performer but he seems like he's going to look visibly much older than his character is supposed to be. Oh well, I'll be seeing this anyway, I'm very excited to see Karen and Curtis again!
So they're not going to cast actors closer to the character's ages? (I remember that being considered some time ago). Kind of disappointing.

However, I do like that they chose a sort of unknown for Maria though, and her resume looks promising. The Olivo casting sounds awesome! She did some great dancing in the club scene in In the Heights, and has a wonderful voice. Don't know how I feel about Cavenaugh (his acting was sometimes lackluster for me), but hopefully he'll blow me away. Yay Holbrook!
I'm very excited about Karen Olivo!! Actually, I'm sad I can't see her in ITH anymore... but she will be great as Anita too!
True. Even I can't argue that Matt has a great voice.

My friends and I are already set to see it when they perform at the National Theatre in D.C. in December. I'm actually pretty excited for this (and I'm not a huge WSS fan). The excitement of everyone else is contagious!
I consider this show among the top three contenders for greatest musical ever written. The other two are Gypsy and Sweeney Todd.
I WOULD DIE to see this show on broadway...I saw it in Denver when I was in the 9th grade and I loved it!!!!
OMG!!!! I am so excited for this show!! I am going to put money aside to go see it!!
WEST SIDE STORY IS MY FAVORITE MUSICAL EVER...
besides Rent and Little Shop of Horrors of course.
My friend was cast in the chorus. so im def def seeing this show!
I'm seeing it in March! I'm so stoked.

We were originally going to see In the Heights, and I was excited about that to, but then we picked West Side Story. At least I get me some Karen Olivo!
I am all in on this.......
ahh i'm so excited about the spanish theyre adding in the book and score! =]
