have you ever performed in or seen a show, local, on broadway, or wherever, where there was an obvious mess-up on stage? i have several. for example, when i saw young frankenstein, Jon Patrick Walker, understudy for Dr. Frankenstein that i saw, when he came out for Tansylvania Mania, his mustache was gone. When act 2 began, the stache was back. *dramatic music*

We did Peter Pan at my high school this past year. There's a line where Peter is supposed to say "That's just my medicine, no one could have poisoned it!" But instead our Peter said "That's just my poison..." and stopped. He went back and said the right thing, and went on with the show.
no way, our peter did the exact same thing!!!!!
Oh man, I was in the play from hell last year. I played Jeff in The Curious Savage and it had more mess-ups than any other show I had ever seen or had been in. Lets begin with parent night. Towards the end of the play, the character Farie runs through the door yelling that she saw a rat. Only when she ran through the door, her dress got caught on a nail causing the entire flat to fall. Also earlier that night, Mrs. Savage's wig fell off. The next day, our Saturday mat., Mrs. Savage almost hit another actress with a dart (and they were real darts. Very sharp!) Later the same performance, another actress forgot her cue and caused two minutes of inprov before the light box finally took the hint and turned off the lights to end the scene (Luckly the mised cue was not too big of a deal. The audience didn't notice and it didn't screw up the plot. Everyone in the cast did a really good improv.). The next show, the same Saturday at the evening performance, It was going pretty smothly until the actress playing Lilly Bell fell off of the stage durring a blackout. The lights stayed down until she got back up on the stage and was ready again. Only to find out when the actress turned around to go to the window, her skirt was ripped all the way up! The Sunday mat. was the only decent show we did. Ahh.... it was awful.
My father played percussion in the orchestra pit at Brooklyn College for the show "Kiss Me Kate".
During the song "Wunderbah" the characters raised their mugs for a toast. They had water in their steins and during the toast the water spilled on my poor daddy's head and he got wet!!!!!

I was in a musical called "Everyman" at Brooklyn College and had the honor of singing a song to the now famous actor Jimmy Smits and a chorus of banquet guests. I went out on a date with the percussionist who performed in the orchestra pit. Neither one of us got wet..

Haha i've been waiting for a topic like this! Well done for posting it!

Well, when I was doing little red riding hood, one of the actors had a very important section of lines [like a whole heap of lines which leads to the twist in the story] but instead of saying his line properly, he kept on mixing up all the lines and not making sense, so I had to come in and save him and improvise to make it look as if he was supposed to do that, luckily his character wasn't the brightest.
Once when I was in "Oliver" they used a special gun for Bill to kill Nancy, but Bill accidently fired it at the curtain and the curtain caught on fire!!! Luckily people in the wings quickly smothered it and it wasnt too distracting

When I was in 2nd grade it was our dress rehersal for our recital at my serious dance school, and it was at this big theater where national tours come and stuff, but when we were on stage on of the lights exploded and it was really scary and glass went everywhere....i wonder what would have happened if that happened during a broadway tour....
these are some great stories. keep 'em coming! So, when I was in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, I played the rle of Linus. at one point, Schroeder and I were supposed to enter at the same time and meet center stage. On, opening nigh, i was watching for him to enter. nohing. so i walked out alone. sill nothing. i said "I wish schroeder was here." he ran out immediately.
i was in YAGMCB too, i played snoopy and my dog house was on wheels so they could move it, and on opening night they moved it so fast i fell off the side of the house...it hurt but i was up again and i kept singing....
That happened to me too! I was Snoopy in the production I was in. I had that big monologue about the Red Baron and opening night, I had got up there and looked out and saw the crowd and I froze. It was my first production where I even had a line, let alone a monologue so the stage fright took hold. Luckily, our director was pretty smart and he taped the lines on top of the dog house so the crowd couldn't see it. After a few seconds, I managed to get a grip and peeked at the first line and nailed it.

My dad made a school bell out of an old speaker and an old school bell he got from work. One night it stopped working so during the scenes at school, out director would hold up a timer to mic backstage to make a ringing sound.
When I went to the MTV filming of Legally Blonde, Michael Rupert flubbed a minor line right before the Legally Blonde ballad. It wasn't a big deal and I don't remember if it was edited out of the MTV showing.
you were there! LUCKY
I was in a musical in high school called Broadway Comes to Cardozo. The show consisted of selections from Beauty and the Beast, Grease, The Who's Tommy and Les Miz. Because of our close ties with our junior high, the director arranged for us to perform the show over there. We're in the opening number for Beauty and the Beast, 'Belle', when there's a complete blackout on stage. No music, no mikes, nothing. So we ended up doing this great market improv for about 5 minutes. It was so ridiculous and so much fun. People were screaming about chickens and babies were being sold (don't ask, we were a twisted cast). I like those kinds of mess-ups. It gave us a new life.
