I think there already may have been a discussion like this....but without further ado, what would be your dream role in a musical and why?

I have so many. But I think right now my biggest dream role is Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie for many reasons. This musical has literally changed my life. I saw it in 2003 with Sutton Foster as Millie, she was the first person who made me really realize that that was what I wanted. Watching Sutton changed my life as well.

Millie is just such an amazing role. She's perky, determined. The dances are amazing, the songs are fun. I would love more than anything to get the chance to play the role that changed my life and is so close to my heart.
Man... that's a toughy. Um... I'd have to say Sonny from "In the Heights". He's just like me. Funny/weird.

Mines probably Mimi/Maureen in RENT & also like the last one Christine in "Phantom of the Opera".
But i have to many.
I'd wanna play Moritz, Ernst, Melchoir. Moritz because he's so cool, and has good songs, Ernst because I get to kiss another guy, Melchoir because he's so brave
Hmmm . . .lets see, I have a few. Tom Collins from Rent, Edna Turnblatt from Hairspray, or Billy Flynn from Chicago, or ANYONE from Aida, Scarlett Pimperell, or Les Mis becuase they are AMAZING SHOWS
Aida- AIDA
Eve- Children of Eden
Lucy- Jekyll & Hyde
Elphaba- Wicked
Christine- Phantom of the Opera

All of the roles I would love to play because I've performed in the ensembles of these shows and I think that I could do a good job portraying the character. As for Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, I would love to play this role because to my knowledge there has never been an African American female to play this role and I would love to be the first.
wow! i have a lot, but right now it would have to be elle woods in legally blonde the musical! :)
this is the current musical i am hooked on right now and the message in the show is really great! especially for girls who think they have to be dumb and beautiful to impress a guy! i love it!

others that would suffice:
elphaba or glinda-wicked
maureen-rent
velma kelley, roxie hart, or "mama" miss morton-chicago
audrey-little shop of horrors
christine-poto
rizzo-grease (which i did play my senior year of high school for the musical)
fantine or cossette-les miserables
Right now it would be Melchior Gabor on Spring Awakening... I think Melchi's personality is a lot like mine and I really relate to the character... Aside from that, Spring Awakening is my favorite musical and I love the plot and the songs...
When I become to old to play Melchi I'd like to play The Phantom of the Opera. I love the character, because it's so dark and yet, sweet in his own kind of way...
I'd also love to play Peter on Bare...
my dream role is to play elphaba in wicked!
elphaba in wicked
elle in legally blone
I think it would be fun to play Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd because she's so bubbly and exuberant, but horrifyingly morbid as well. Sweeney is killing for revenge. Mrs. Lovett is in for the sick fun.

Christine in Phantom would be pretty enjoyable as well. Every actress who has played her has added a little piece of herself to that character. I don't think Christine should be portrayed as indecisive and flighty -- as she so often is. She should have more of a lost little girl innocence and a sort of "I'll follow if you lead" demeanor.

Next would probably be Mimi in Rent. She is such a loveable character. She loves Roger with all her heart and she'd do anything for him, but he doesn't seem to notice or return the affection...for a while.

Fourth would probably be Rumpelteazer, Demeter, Cassandra, or Jemima in Cats.
Ariel - The Little Mermaid. I have always love The Little Mermaid and dreamed it would be on stage one day. I literally flipped out when I heard it was coming to Broadway.

Wendla - Spring Awakening. This show just amazes me. Beautiful, emotional, and powerful. Wendla is an amazing character and I love her vocal pieces.

Those are my top two dream roles, and my top two favorite shows of all time. I can't decide who I'd want to play more because they're from such different musicals. Since I saw both The Little Mermaid and Spring Awakening, I've been more determined than ever to pursue both roles.

I would also love to play Amneris in AIDA, Christine Daae in Phantom, and Mimi in RENT.
